At The Healing Link, holistic means looking at the whole person rather than focusing on a single symptom or condition. This may include your physical, emotional, mental, lifestyle and personal wellbeing, recognising that each person’s circumstances are unique.
Complementary therapies are approaches that are used alongside conventional healthcare to support a person’s overall wellbeing. Many people choose to combine holistic support with medical care, depending on their individual needs.
Via our online directory or through accessing our Wellness Pathway Service
That’s absolutely okay. Simply complete our Wellness Pathway Request Form to help you explore your options. It includes information about relevant approaches and practitioners who may be a match for your needs.
Person-centred support means recognising that everyone is different. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, support should reflect each person’s individual needs, preferences, goals and circumstances.
About Holistic Support
Holistic therapies are not suitable for everyone or every situation. If you have any medical conditions, are taking medication, are pregnant, or have any concerns, we recommend seeking advice from your GP or healthcare professional before starting a new therapy. Always ensure your practitioner is aware of any relevant health conditions.
No. You do not need a medical diagnosis to explore holistic support. However, depending on your symptoms, medical history or the therapy you are considering, a practitioner may recommend that you seek advice from your GP or another healthcare professional before starting treatment.
Safety
No. Holistic therapies are not generally intended to replace medical treatment. We encourage you to keep both your GP (where appropriate) and your practitioner informed about any treatment or support you are receiving, so they have the information they need to support you safely.
If you are concerned about your symptoms, if they are new, severe, or getting worse, or if you are unsure about the cause, you should seek advice from your GP or another appropriate healthcare professional. Holistic support can often complement conventional healthcare but should not delay seeking medical advice when it is needed.
No. The Healing Link is a matching and signposting service and is not able to provide urgent or emergency support. If you need immediate medical attention, please contact the appropriate emergency or urgent healthcare service without delay
Absolutely. If you can’t find the answer you are looking for please get in touch via our Contact Us page. We will be happy to answer your questions or help you understand how The Healing Link works before you decide whether our service is right for you
Choosing a Practitioner
Before joining The Healing Link, practitioners complete an onboarding process. Depending on the services they offer, we ask them to provide relevant qualifications or training where applicable, appropriate insurance, and other supporting documentation. Practitioners are also required to agree to our Code of Conduct before joining our network.
Not all holistic professions are regulated in the same way. Some practitioners belong to professional bodies or voluntary registers, while others work within professions that have different standards or requirements. Requirements vary depending on the therapy offered.
It can be helpful to ask about their experience, qualifications or training where appropriate, what a session involves, their fees, and whether their approach is suitable for your individual needs. A good practitioner should be happy to answer your questions
Finding the right practitioner is a personal decision. Things such as their experience, approach, communication style and your own preferences can all play a part. We encourage you to choose someone who feels like a good fit for your individual needs.
Every practitioner works differently, but your first appointment will usually involve discussing your needs, goals and relevant background information. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions and decide whether the approach feels right for you.
